every person and persons whomsoever.  In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and seal this thirteenth day of December

                                              I hereby certify that on this thirteenth
day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and fifty
eight before the subscriber a justice of the Peace of the said state in and
for the county aforesaid personally appeared Robert Richey who
acknowledged the above bill of sale to be his act

    Howard County state of Maryland SSt:
    Before me Pery G. Pickett a Justice of the Peace in and for said
County personally appeared Margaret S. Richey who upon her oath
taken upon the Holy Evangelly of All Mighty God saith that the above
consideration named in the above bill of sale is just and true and
as stands stated witness my hand this sixteenth day of December
in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty eight

We Samuel Chase and Anne Chase his wife
of Howard County and State of Maryland in
consideration of fifty Dollars and fifty cents
                           paid us by John Poulton of Howard County and State aforesaid
                           do hereby bargain and sell to the said John Poulton our three
                           children namely James CHase, Mary Chase and Louisa Chase
                           to serve until they arr^ive^ of lawful age.  James will be 21 years
                           of age on the 10.th day of October 1865, Mary will be 18 years
                           of age on 10.th October 1864, Louisa will be 18 years of age on the
                           1.st day of July 1867.  Witness our hands and seals this 12th
                           day of October 1858                              his
