a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Howard
County personally appeared Daniel Schalke and acknowledged
the foregoing mortgage to be his act and at the same time before me
also appeared Casper Wenner and made oath in due form
of law that the consideration in said mortgage is true and bona fide
as therein set forth

Know all men by these presents that
I Seth W. Warfield of Howard County
in the state of Maryland Administrator of
of James Harrisson (deceased) for and in
                       consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars current money to me
                       in hand paid By Catherine Botrell of the County and state aforesaid
                       at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt
                       whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained
                       and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell assign
                       and deliver unto the said Catherine Botrell her executors administrators
                       and assigns one negro woman Fanny slave for life
                       dark co^u^lored and aged about forty seven years to have and to
                       Hold the said negro woman Fanny to the said Catherine
                       Botrell her executors administrators and assigns forever &
                       I the said ^said^ Seth W. Warfield for myself my heirs executors and
                       administrators the said negro woman fany as Aslave for life
                       unto the said Catherine Botrell her Executors administrators
                       and assigns against me the said Seth W. Warfield
                       administrator as aforesaid; my Executors and Administrators
                       and against all and every other person and persons whomsoever
                       shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents
                                In Witness whereof I have here unto subscribed my
                       name and affixed my seal this ninth day of October Eighteen
                       hundred and fifty eight
