same place at or before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John Howard his executors administrators and assigns my negro woman named Harriet Howard being the same negro woman purchased from the Estate of the late Charles G. Worthington a slave for life. To have and to hold the said negro woman unto the said John Howard his executors administrators and assigns forever. And I the said John G. Holland for my self my heirs executors and administrators the said negro woman unto the said John Howard his executors administrators and assigns against me the said John G. Holland my executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty seventh day of August Eighteen hundred and forty six Signed sealed and John G. Holland (seal) delivered in the presence of William Clark State of Maryland Howard District Sct. Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this twenty seventh day of August Eighteen hundred and forty six before the subscriber a justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for said District personally appears John G. Holland and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Isaac Pratt J. P. Received on the aforegoing instrument of writing when presented for record one dollar in lieu of stamp under the act of 1846 ch 61 W. H.
