296 these presents Witness my hand and seal this eighth^teenth^ day of May eighteen hundred and fifty eight Test Basil Crapster (seal) W. W. Watkins G. W. Sands Delivered June 1.st 1858 to M.r Crapster State of Maryland Howard County to wit: I hereby certify that on this eighteenth day of May Eighteen hundred and fifty eight before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace ^in &^ for the County aforesaid personally appeared Basil Crapster and acknowledged the aforegoing deed of manumission to be his act and deed William Allen J. P. Filed to be recorded May the 18.th 1858 same day recorded and examined per W. W. Watkins clk
the first day of May eighteen hundred and Sixty Six and any issue she may have prior to that date shall be free at the age of twenty five years if males and if females at the age of eighteen years and so of their generations forever and we do also hereby manumit and set free our slaves Mary Ellen now eight years old Kitty Ann now six years old Henry now four years old and Evan now two years old the freedom of each to commence at the age of thirty years; and in the event of our decease before they shall attain that age then we do hereby declare that they and each of them shall be free at the age of twenty one years and we also further declare that any & all issue the said Mary Ellen and Kitty Ann may have prior to their freedom shall serve their mother only if males until they attain the age of twenty one years; if females until they attain the age of eighteen years when they shall be free.
