oath that the consideration mentioned is true and bona fide

Mortgage to
Samuel Canley
 I John Gaw of Howard County in the
State of Maryland being now indebted to
Samuel Canley of the City of Baltimore
in the sum of five hundred dollars for
                    which I have passed to him my promissory note bearing
                    interest payable yearly in three years from the twenty seventh
                    day of April 1857 in consideration thereof do hereby bargain                  
                    & sell to said Canley all the personal property mentioned
                    in the schedule hereto annexed      Provided that if I shall
                    pay the said sum of five hundred dollars when due and the
                    interest in the mean time yearly this mortgage shall be void
                    and provided that in default of payment of principal or
                    interest when due the said Canley may sell the said Mortgaged
                    property to the highest bidder for cash upon giving ten days
                    notice of the time place & terms of sale      Witness my
                    hand and seal this twenty ninth day of April 1857
