in and for the County of Carroll personally appears James
Sykes who is personally known to me to be the person named
and described as and professing to be the grantor herein before
mentioned in this deed and acknowledged the same to be his
act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned
       In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name

Know all men by these presents
the  we Joshua M.cCauley William
Hughes Thomas M.cCrea all stand
all of Howard County a State
of Maryland are held and firmly
bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum
of three thousand dollars current money to be paid to the
said State of Maryland or its certain attorney or assigns
to which payment well and truly to be made and done we
bind ourselves and each of us and each of our heirs
executors and administrators jointly and severly firmly by
these presents sealed with our and dated this twenty
first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and fifty seven         Now the Condition of
the above obligation is such that if the above bound Joshua
M.cCauley shall well and faithfully execute his office as
Collector of the State taxes and shall well and truly account
for and pay over to the treasurer of the State of Maryland
the several sum of money which he shall receive or be
answerable for at such times as the law directs then this
obligation to be null and void otherwise to remain in full
force and virtue
