228 the Justices of the peace of said County and State personally appeared George W. Merson, William H. Harrison, George R Shane and Humphrey C. Hill & Richard Harden and acknowledged themselves each and severally to owe and stand justly indebted to the State of Maryland in the sum of two hundred and ten dollars to be made and levyed of thir bodies goods and chattels lands and tenements respectively for the use of the said State Upon Condition nevertheless that if the said George W. Merson shall indemnify the said County and State from all charges that may arrise for the maintaining of a female child illegitimately by him begotten on the body of Cassander F. Jones of which she was delivered on the 4.th day of December 1856 then this recognizance to be void and of none effect other wise to be and remain of full force and virtue in law Taken and acknowledged before me Ignatius Waters J Peace Rec.d to be recorded on the 14.th day of April 1857 same day recorded & exam.d per W.
