212 set forth in the above Bill of Sale in true and bona fide as therein set forth In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name R. C. Nicholson J. P. Received to be recorded on the 17th day of February 1857 same day recorded & examined per W. H. Worthington Clk
by Harriet Sykes of the City of Baltimore and State of Maryland aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged; have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Harriet Sykes her executors administrators and assigns. All my negroes slaves for life viz.t "Mary" aged forty three years "Jim" aged forty one years, "John" aged forty years, "Dan" aged thirty eight years (said slaves were purchased by said Sykes from Benjamin Dorsey) "Jane" aged about thirty years (purchased by said Sykes from the administrator of John Hipsley deceased) "Jenny" aged about twenty five years and "Eliza" aged about fourteen years (being servants raised by said James Sykes) And also seven brown Mules and one white Mule (which said negroes and Chattel property are all in Howard County aforesaid on the farm and premises heretofore Conveyed by said James Sykes to said Harriet Sykes and are the same that were heretofore Mortgaged to her to secure the above mentioned sum of money with interest in manner mentioned in said Mortgage it being the intent and meaning of these presents and of the parties hereto that the property herein described is to be taken in full satisfaction and discharge of said mortgage debt and interest To Have and To Hold the said described personal property to the said Harriet Sykes her executors administrators and assigns forever; And I the said James Sykes for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said Chattel property unto the said Harriet Sykes her executors administrators and assigns against me the said James Sykes my executors and administrators and against all and every other persons and person whomsoever shall and |
