Jesse P. Todd
 I Charles Pickett of Howard County
in the State of Maryland in consideration
of sixty two dollars and fifty cents
paid me by Jesse paten Todd of Frederick
County in said State do hereby bargain
                            and sell to the said Jesse Paten Todd the following property
                            to wit:  one Sorrel Mare about nine years old; and all my
                            Crop of Tobacco which is now in two houses on my premises
                            all which said property is now in my possession and I hereby
                            covenant that the said Jesse Paten Todd may at any time
                            hereafter enter upon my premises and seize take and convey
                            away any and all the said property above described without
                            any hindrance or interruption by me or by any other person
                            through my procurement            Witness my hand and seal
                            this sixth day of December Eighteen hundred & fifty six

                                           I hereby certify that on this sixth day of December Eighteen
                            hundred and fifty six before the subscriber a Justice of the

                            and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be his act
