       State of Maryland   Howard County to wit
                Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this
twentieth day of November Eighteen hundred and fifty six
before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of
Maryland in and for County aforesaid personally appears
Enock S brown and David C Fulton who are known to
me of my own knowledge to be the persons who are named
and described as and professing to be the parties grantors
in the aforegoing Deed or Bill of Sale and do severally acknowledge
the same to be their act and deed.   And at the
same time personally appears David C. Fulton and makes
oath before me that the consideration set forth in said
deed or Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein
set forth

           Howard County to wit:
Be it remembered that on this
twelfth day of June in the year
of our Lord Eighteen hundred and
fifty five before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the
Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Howard County
aforesaid personally appeared Nicholas Thompson and
Dennis C. Thompson and acknowledged themselves each and
severally to owe and stand justly indebted to the State of Maryland
in the sum of three hundred and fifteen dollars dollars
to be made and levied of their bodies goods and Chattels land
and tenements respectively for the use of the said State
Upon Condition nevertheless that if the said Nicholas
Thompson shall indemnify the said County from all charges
that may arise for the maintenance of two male illegitimate
Children by him begotten on the body of Catharine Hurst
of which she was delivered respectively on the nineteenth
day of November Eighteen hundred and fifty two and on
the twenty seventh day of September eighteen hundred and
fifty four last then this recognizance to be void and of no
effect otherwise to be and remain of full force and virtue
in law   Taken & acknowledged before me      Ignatius Waters J Peace
