is hereby acknowledged we have given and transferred to said Joseph his Executors administrators and assigns a negro boy Alfred aged eighteen Years To Have and To Hold the said Negro Boy Alfred to the said Joseph Ranahan his Executors Administrators and assigns for and during the term of sixteen Years from the twenty third day of September Anno Domini eighteen hundred and fifty six And we hereby declare that from the said termination of the term of Years aforesaid the said Alfred shall be set free from all manner of service to the said Rennahan his executors administrators or assigns or to us or either of us our executors administrators or assigns or to any other person whomsoever It is understood that the said Rennehan hereby binds himself not to take said boy out of the state of maryland during the term aforesaid In Witness whereof we hereby set our hands and seals this twenty third day September A.
