180 the age of sixteen years during all which time and term the said Thomas Shorts shall the said Remus R. Hobbs well and faithfully serve in all such lawful business as the said Thomas Shorts shall be put unto by the said Remus R. Hobbs according to the power and ability of him the said Thomas Shorts and honestly and obediently in all things shall behave himself towards the said Remus R. Hobbs and the rest of his family and shall the said John W. Shorts depart this life before the expiration of the said term or be residing out of this state at that time he hereby enjoins it (as a friendly request) upon the said Remus R. Hobbs to bind our or cause to be bound out the above named Thomas Shorts to some competent mechanic of such trade or occupation as the said Thomas Shorts may then choose and on the most advantageous terms for the general good and permanent interests of the said Thomas Shorts and the said Remus R. Hobbs on his part does hereby promise and agree that he will and shall well and faithfully find and provide for the said apprentice good and sufficient meat drink lodging clothing and other necessaries fit and convenient for such an apprentice during the term aforesaid and that he will within the said term give the said Thomas Shorts twelve months schooling in the primary school in the district in which he resides In witness whereof the said John W. Shorts and Remus R. Hobbs have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals on the date first herein written signed sealed and delivered his in the presence of us, the John W.
