101 slavery my negro woman named Harriet aged about forty years her freedom to take effect from at the date of this Instrument and also her four sons named Charles Thomas George Washington James Henry and Albion that is to say that of the said Charles Thomas on the twenty sixty day of september Eighteen hundred and fifty seven that of the said George Washington on the first day of April Eighteen hundred & sixty two that of the said James Henry on the thirteenth day of March Eighteen hundred and sixty six and that of the said Albion on the sixteenth day of september Eighteen hundred and sixty nine at which several periods they will respectively have attained the age of twenty five years or in the event of my death before such period or periods the freedom of all or either of said boys to take effect at the time of the happening of said event and I do hereby declare them the said Harriet Charles Thomas George Washington James Henry and Albion to be free and released from all Manner of service and servitude whatsoever to me and my heirs & representatives at the period herein before mentioned In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal on this twenty third day of July Eighteen hundred & fifty five Witness R. C. Nicholson Charlotte Spurier (seal) G. D. Spurrier state of Maryland Howard County sct on this twenty third day of July Eighteen hundred and fifty five before the subscriber a justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for Howard County aforesaid personally appeared Charlotte spurrier party to the foregoing Deed of Manumission or instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the same to be her act and deed acknowledged before R. C. Nicholson J. P. |
