99 O. Cooper and Robert W. Lewis for and in Consideration of the payment of the above mentioned Sum of money and the interest thereon and for and in Consideration of the Sum of one Dollar Current money to them in hand paid by the said John Davis the receipt whereof they the said William O. Cooper and Robert W. Lewis, doth acknowledge and themselves to be fully Satisfied Contented and paid hath and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain sell release enfeoff Convey and Confirm unto the Said John Davis his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever the above mentioned and described negro boy and Horse and Carriage, To Have and To Hold the above described negro boy "Stephen" and Horse and Carriage to him the said John Davis his heirs and assigns forever, and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever, In testimony whereof the said William O. Cooper and Robert W. Lewis, have hereunto subscribed their names and affixed their seals, the day and year first herein before written Signed sealed and delivered William O. Cooper (seal) in the presence of Robert W. Lewis (seal) Charles Corkran State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit Be it remembered that on this sixth day of Ma^r^ch in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four personally appears before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid the within named William O. Cooper and Robert W. Lewis party Grantors in the within and aforegoing Indenture and acknowledged the Same to be their act and deed, and delivered the Same for the uses and purposes therein mentioned And I do further Certify, that of my own knowledge I am Satisfied that the Said William O. Cooper and Robert W. Lewis who makes the above acknowledgment are the same persons who are named and described as, and professing to be the party grantors in the within and aforegoing Deed of Indenture Acknowledged before and Certified by Charles Corkran J. P. Rhoda Stevens Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was √ from xd received and recorded on the 9.th day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand Brice J. Goldsborough eight hundred and fifty four to wit: Know all men by these presents that I Brian J. Goldsborough of Dorchester County and state of maryland for and in Consideration of Services rendered and in the further Consideration of the Sum of one dollar in hand paid by Rhoda Stevens at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Brice J. Goldsborough hath given granted and Sold and by these presents doth give grant and sell unto the said Rhoda Stevens her Executors administrators or assigns a negro girl named mary Elizabeth a slave for a term of years that is to say to serve unto the said negro girl arrives to the age of thirty years the said negro girl being now nine years & Eleven months old. To Have and To Hold the said negro girl unto the said Rhoda Stevens and her Executors administrators or assigns ^for the term of years aforesaid to the only proper use and behoof of the said Rhoda Stevens her Executors administrators or assigns^ In Witness whereof the said Brice J. Goldsborough and Rhoda Stevens have hereto set their hands and seals this tenth day of March Eighteen hundred and fifty four Signed sealed and delivered Brice J.
