94 these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Anthony C Thompson his Executors administrators and assigns all and singular one large Flat boat or shell boat new and not quite finished and now lying in the boat yard of James A. Stewart of the following dimensions that is to say thirty four feet in length Eleven feet Two inches in width and two feet two inches deep. To have and To Hold the said Boat mentioned unto him the said Anthony C. Thompson his Executors administrators and assigns to his and their own use and behoof Provided always and it is declared to be the true intent and meaning of these presents that if the said Spencer young do and Shall well and truly pay or Cause to be paid unto the said Anthony C Thompson his executors administrators or assigns the full Sum of Fifty Dollars Current money on or before the 1st day of July 1854 with legal interest thereon then and in Such Case these presents and every matter and thing therein Contained Shall Cease determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes any thing herein Contained to the Contrary notwithstanding in testimony whereof the Said Spencer Young has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written Signed Sealed and his delivered in the presence of Spencer x Young (seal) Robert R. Robertson mark State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 27th day of January 1854 before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of Said state in and for Dorchester County personally appeared Spencer young party grantor within mentioned and acknowledged the within and aforegoing bill of Sale to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in Such Case made and provided at the same time personally appeared Anthony C. Thompson party grantee before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace as aforesaid and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration set forth in the aforegoing bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged and Sworn before Robert R. Robertson William Giles (negro) Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Manumission paid from xd was received and recorded on the 31st day of January 1854 to wit: Elizabeth C. Sulivane State of Maryland Dorchester County To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Elizabeth C. Sulivane of Dorchester County, State of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving, have released from slavery, liberated, manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from Slavery, liberate manumit and set free my negro William Giles who is able to work & gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and to the said William Giles I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted & discharged from all manner of Service or Servitude to me my heirs executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand & seal this 30th day of January 1854. Murray Charles Corkran State of Maryland Dorchester County Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 30th day of January 1854 before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County personally appears Elizabeth C. Sulivane she being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be the party to the foregoing Deed of manumission and doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument of writing to be her act or deed In testimony whereof I hereto set my hand seal on the day and year aforesaid Charles Corkran (seal) A Justice of the pe peace in & for Dorchester County |
