Anthony C. Thompson      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following ^Mortgage^ Bill of Sale
    √   from  x.d                  was received and recorded on the 27th day of January 1854 to wit:
Peter G. Lecompte              This Indenture made this 27th day of January 1854 between Peter G Lecompte
of Dorchester County and State of Maryland of the one part and Anthony C. Thompson of the State and
County aforesaid of the other Part whereas the said Peter G Lecompte owes and stands Justly indebted
tot eh said Anthony C. Thompson in the sum of six Hundred and Twenty five dollars Current money
and to Secure the payment thereof is willing to execute these presents now this indenture witnesseth that
the said Peter G Lecompte for and in Consideration of the premises and of the Sum of five dollars
Current money to him in hand paid by the said Anthony C. Thompson at and before the Sealing and delivery
of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and Sold and by these
presents doth grant bargain and Sell unto the said Anthony C. Thompson his Executors administrators and assigns
all and singular the negro men slaves for life hereinafter mentioned and expressed that is to say one negro
man Called Garretson Harman aged 23 years and one negro man Called moses Ross aged 20 years  To Have
and To hold all and singular the said two negroes above mentioned unto him the said Anthony C Thompson
his Executors administrators and assigns to his and their own use and behoof Provided always and it is
declared to be the true intent and meaning of these presents that if the said Peter G Lecompte do and shall well
and truly pay or Cause to be paid unto the said Anthony C Thompson his Executors administrators or assigns
the full sum of six hundred and twenty five dollars on or before the twentieth day of July 1855 with legal
interest on the same then and in such Case these presents and every matter and thing Contained herein
shall Cease determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes any thing herein Contained to the Contrary ^notwithstanding^
in testimony whereof I the said Peter G. Lecompte have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year
first above written

in the presence of
                      Robert Robertson

    State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit:      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on
this 27th day of January 1854 before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state and County aforesaid
personally appeared Peter G. Lecompte party grantor within mentioned and acknowledged the within
Bill of Sale to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly
in Such Case made and provided at the same time personally appeared Anthony C. Thompson party grantee
within mentioned before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace as aforesaid and made oath on the Holy
Evangely of almighty God that the Consideration set forth in the within and aforegoing bill of sale is true and
bona fide as therein set forth               Acknowledged and Sworn before Robert R. Robertson

delivered to Anthony Thompson Jr April 24th 1854


Anthony C. Thompson      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following mortgage
    √      from   xd              Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 28th day of January 1854 to wit
Spencer Young   (negro)               This indenture made this 27th day of January in the year
                                       of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and fifty four between Spencer
young Colored man of Dorchester County and State of Maryland of the one part and Anthony C
Thompson of the State and County aforesaid of the other part whereas the said Spencer young owes
and stands Justly indebted to the Said Anthony C. Thompson in the sum of Fifty Dollars Current
money and to secure the payment thereof is willing to execute these presents now this indenture witnesseth
that the said Spencer young for and in Consideration of the premises and of the sum of five dollars current
money to him in hand paid by the said Anthony C. Thompson at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Spencer young hath granted bargained and sold and by

delivered to Anthony Thompson Jr April 26th 1854
