73 Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Whitefield Woolford State of Maryland Dorchester County Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this nineteenth day of October Eighteen Hundred and fifty three before the subscriber one of the State of Maryland's Justices of the Peace in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appeared Hugh Maguire party grantor named in the within Bill of Sale and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and delivered the same for the uses and purposes therein mentioned according to the true intent and meaning of the same and the Acts of Assembly in such case made and provided and also Certify that on the same day and year aforesaid before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace as aforesaid personally appeared William W. Crawford party gratee within named and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration set forth in the within and aforegoing Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged and Sworn before Whitefield Woolford Received the 31st day of October 1853 of William W. Crawford the sum of one dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of Sale F. J. Henry Clk Thomas Hubbard Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified, that the following Bill of Sale was √ from xd received and recorded on the 7th day of November Eighteen hundred and fifty three to wit: John H. North Know all men by these presents that I John Hicks North of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, for and in Consideration of the sum of Four Hundred Dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Thomas Hubbard of the same County and State aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said John Hicks North do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Thomas Hubbard his heirs Executors administrators and assigns One negro Woman named Eliza, aged about thirty years a slave for life sound in body and mind. To Have and To Hold the said negro Woman Eliza as above bargained and sold, unto the said Thomas Hubbard, his heirs Executors, administrators and assigns and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend. In Testimony Whereof, the said John Hicks North hath hereunto subscribed his name and affixed his seal this twenty sixth day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty three. State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered that on the twenty sixth day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty three personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid John Hicks North and acknowledged the within Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed, according to the true intent and meaning thereof. And at the same time personally appeared before me Thomas Hubbard party grantee within named and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God, that the Consideration set forth in said Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged and sworn to before Sam.l Abbott J.
