that a Certain Mortgage Bill of Sale bearing date the eighth day of January Eighteen Hundred and
fifty three made and executed by Hugh Maguire of the aforesaid County and State to me to secure
the Sum of One Hundred and fifty one Dollars and ninety three Cents and Recorded in the Office
of the Clerk of the County of Dorchester aforesaid in Liber F J H N.o 3 folios 36 & 37 one of the Chattel
Record Books for Dorchester County on the seventeenth day of January aforesaid is paid dated the
twenty eight day of October One thousand eight hundred and fifty three.

and fifty three, before me Came William W. Crawford to me Known to be the individual described
in and who executed the above Certificate and acknowledged that he executed the same.

Hugh Maguire                 Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Release ^of Mortgage^ was
 √   from  x.d                   received and recorded on the 31st day of October 1853 to wit:
William W. Crawford      I, William W. Crawford of Dorchester County and State of Maryland do
                                       hereby Certify that a certain mortgage Bill of Sale bearing date the second
day of December Eighteen Hundred and fifty made and executed by Hugh Maguire of the
aforesaid County and State to me to secure the sum of One Hundred and ninety three dollars
and eight Cents and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County of Dorchester aforesaid in
Liber W J N.o 3 folio 293, 294 & 2995 one of the Chattel Record Books of Dorchester County on
the second day of December aforesaid is paid dated the twenty eight day of October one thousand
eight hundred and fifty three.                                                                     William W. Crawford

William W. Crawford      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale
      √   from   x.d             was received and recorded on the 31st day of October 1853 to wit:
Hugh Maguire                 Know all men by these presents that I, Hugh Maguire of Dorchester
                                       County in the State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of
Five Hundred Dollars Current money of Maryland to me in hand paid by William W. Crawford of
the same County and State aforesaid at and before the execution of these presents the receipt whereof I,
the said Hugh Maguire, do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained, sold, conveyed and transfered
and by these presents, do bargain and sell, transfer and Convey unto the said William W Crawford his
Executors, administrators and assigns, one negro boy Called and Known by the name of Joseph aged about
seventeen years as slave for life, together with all my right, title, interest, claim and demand, of in and
to the said negro boy slave.  To have and To Hold, the said negro slave Joseph, above bargained and
sold, or intended so to be, to the said William W. Crawford his executors administrators and assigns forever
to him and their only use and behoof against him the said Hugh Maguire his heirs and assigns and against
all persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.  In Testimony whereof,
the said Hugh Maguire has hereto subscribed his name and affixed his seal this nineteenth day of October
in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and fifty three
