71 William D. Traverse Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the √ from Exd following Bill of sale was received and recorded on the 26.th day Mary C. Traverse of October 1853 to wit Know all men by these presents that I, Mary C. Traverse of Dorchester County state of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars Current money to me in hand paid by William D. Traverse of Dorchester County in the said state at and before the sealing and deliver^in^g of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Mary C. Traverse do hereby acknowledge granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell, unto the said William D. Traverse his Executors administrators and assigns the following negroes Hester Cornish aged about twenty years Girl by the name of Rebecca aged three years boy by the name of samuel aged 2 months To Have and To Hold all and singular the said negroes to William D. Traverse his Executors administrators and assigns forever and if the said Mary C. Traverse for myself my heirs Executors and administrators and assigns against me the said Mary C. Traverse my Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents of all and singular the said negroes to have and Put the said William D. Traverse in full possession by delivering to him the said negroes at the sealing and deliver^in^g of these presents in the name of the whole bargained and sold or mentioned and intended to be so unto him the said William D. Traverse as aforesaid In witness whereof we set our hands and seals the 17 day of October 1853 her Test Mary A. Cator Thomas E. Cator Mary C. x Traverse (seal) mark Received October the 17th 1853 the sum of five hundred dollars in full from William D. Traverse for the above negroes her Test Thomas E. Cator Mary C. x Traverse mark Dorchester County state of Maryland Be it remembered that on this seventeenth day of October 1853 before the subscriber A Justice of the peace for said County appears Mary C. Travers and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be her act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before me the subscriber Thomas E. Cator State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered that on the 26.th day of October Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and fifty three, personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid William D. Traverse party grantee within named and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty god, that the Consideration set forth in said Bill of sale is true and Bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged & sworn ^to^ before Charles Corkran J. P. Received October 26.th 1853 of William D. Traverse the sum of one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of sale Francis H. Henry Clk Delivered to William D. Traverse the 29th November 1853 Hugh Maguire Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Release of Mortgage was √ from xd received and recorded on the 31st day of October 1853 to wit: William W.
