70 Smith Guardn of Margaret H. Wilson by by virtue of an order obtained from the orphans Court of Dorchester County Maryland have bargained and sold, and Conveyed unto Thomas H. Keene, for his use, a negro woman Sarah, aged about Twenty Two years, and to serve from the first day of January 1854 until the First day of January 1874 For the sum of Three hundred dollars Cash paid in hand, the issue of the said negro woman Sarah, to be the legal property of the said Thomas H. Keene, his heirs, or assigns, forever. The said negro woman Sarah, on the first day of Jany 1874 if living to revert back, to her original owner Margaret H. Wilson or her heirs or assigns as Witness our hands and seals this 22d day of October 1853 Acknowledged and sworn before Washington A. Smith (seal) Charles Corkran J. Peace Thomas H. Keene (seal) Maryland Dorchester County to wit: On the 22nd day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty three personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County Washington A Smith and acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof, and at the same time personally appeared Thomas H. Keene party grantee within named, and made oath on the Holy Evangely of almighty God, that the Consideration set forth in said Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged & Sworn to before Recd Octo 22d 1853 of Washington A Smith the sum of one Dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Charles Corkran Bill of sale F. J. Henry clk Washington A. Smith Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following √ from xd Bill of sale was received and recorded on the 22d day of October 1853 to wit: Thomas H Keene Know all men by these presents that I Thomas H. Keene have have this day, bargained, sold and Conveyed, unto Washington A. Smith, one negro woman sarah, aged about 22 years to serve the said Washington A. Smith, his heirs or assigns until the 1st day of January 1874 for the sum of Three Hundred Dollars in hand paid, the issue of the said Sarah if the there be any, to be the legal property of the said W. A. smith, his heirs, or assigns for ever The said negro Sarah, on the first day of Jany 1874 if living to revert back to Margaret H. Keene and acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and at the same time personally appeared Washington A.
