69 my heirs, executors and administrators, all and singular the said goods & chattels as above mentioned unto the said Francis J. Henry and Alexander H. Bayly their Executors, administrators and assigns, against me the said Richard Mitchell my executors and administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In witness whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix my seal this seventeenth day of October Eighteen hundred & fifty three signed sealed and delivered Richard Mitchell (seal) in the presence of Charles Corkran State of Maryland, Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered that on the seventeenth day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty three, personally appeared before the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid, Richard Mitchell, and acknowledged the within Bill of Sale or Instrument of Writing to be his act and deed, according to the true intent and meaning thereof. And at the same time personally appeared before me Francis J. Henry and D.r Alexander H. Bayly party grantees within named and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration set forth in said Bill of Sale is true and Bona fide as therein set forth Acknowledged & Sworn to before Charles Corkran Elisha Holliday negro Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following manumission Paid from xd was received and recorded on the 19.th day of October 1853 Elizabeth C. Sulivane State of Maryland Dorchester County, To wit To all whom it may Concern, be it Known, that I Elizabeth C. Sulivane of Dorchester County, state of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations, me thereunto moving, have released from slavery, liberated, manumitted and set free, and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate, manumit and set free my negro man Elisha Holliday, being in good health & able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance, and he, the said Elisha I do declare to be henceforth free, manumitted and discharged, from all manner of ^service or^ servitude to me, my executors or administrators forever In testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand & seal this 1 day January 1851 Test Charles Corkran Elizabeth C. Sulivane (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County sc: Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 1st day of January 1850 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in & for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appears Elizabeth C. Sulivane she being Known to me, to be the person who is named and described as & professing to be, the party to the foregoing deed of manumission & doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument of writing to be her act or deed In testimony whereof I hereto set my hand & seal on the day & year aforesaid Charles Corkran Thomas H. Keene Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the √ from xd following Bill of sale was received and recorded on the 22d day of Washington A.
