65 Received the 29th day of July 1853 of Anthony R. Wallace & James R. Stevens the sum of one Dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of sale F. J. Henry Clerk Hooper C Hicks Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following √ from xd Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 15.th day of August 1853 Edwin E. Medford to wit: Know all men by these presents that I Edwin E Medford of Dorchester County State of Maryland for & in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred & twenty five Dollars Current money to me in hand paid or secured to be paid by Hooper C Hicks of Dorchester County State of Maryland have granted bargained & sold & by these presents do grant, bargain & sell negro girl Caroline unto the said Hooper C. Hicks, his heirs, executors or assigns the said negro girl having to serve according to the Will of Aaron Cook to the full end & term of twenty four years from the 31st day of December in the year Eighteen hundred & forty two, it being all the right title and estate of the said Edwin E. Medford of in and to the said negro girl sold by him for the remaining time of said girl's service. In Witness Whereof we have hereunto set our hands & seals this 11.th day of August in the year Eighteen hundred & fifty three. Edwin E. Medford (seal) Hooper C. Hicks (seal) Delivered to H C Hicks July 31st 1834 State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit On the 11.th day of August in the year 1853, before the subscriber & Justice of the Peace of said County & State personally appeared Edwin E. Medford & Hooper C Hicks being known to me to be the persons professing to be parties to the aforegoing instrument of writing & acknowledge the same to be their act & deed for the purpose therein mentioned at the same time appeared the said Hooper C Hicks and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, that the consideration therein expressed is true & bona fide. Henry Clk Sarah Baynard Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Bill of sale was √ from xd received and recorded on the 29.th day of August in the year of our Lord 1853 to wit Francis J. Henry Know all men by these presents that I Francis J. Henry of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred and ten dollars Current Money to me in hand paid by Sarah Baynard of Dorchester County and state aforesaid have granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Sarah Baynard her heirs and assigns, the following property to wit, one yoke of oxen which I purchased of W. C. Huffington and one ox Cart which I purchased of John E. Roszell admr of Wesley Phillips decd. To Have and To Hold the said above described property as above bargained and sold unto the said Sarah Baynard her heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns, against me the said Francis J. Henry my heirs, Executors and administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend In testimony whereof, I Francis J.
