one of the Justices of ht Peace in and for the County and State afforesaid Henry Jefferson Bramble
and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in the
within Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth.  Taken and Certified by me
the subscriber on the day and year first above written.

Mary S. Hooper              Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following
Exd   from   √   85           Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 12th day of
John Edmondson              July 1852 to wit.  Know all men by these presents, That
James Hooper & others   John Edmondson, James Hooper, Henry l Hooper, William Hooper,
Mordecai Hooper, and Henry Creighton and Clarissa H. his Wife, John H. Hooper and
Maryann his wife of the City of Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, for and in consideration
of the sum of five Dollars lawful money of the United States, in hand paid by Mary
S. Hooper of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland at or before the sealing and delivery of these
presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these
presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Mary S. Hooper her executors, administrators
and assigns the following negroes to wit; negro Woman Nell and negro man Charles slaves for
life:  To Have and To Hold the said described negroes Nell and Charles to the said Mary
S. Hooper, her executors, administrators, and assigns forever; and we the said John Edmondson,
James Hooper, Henry L. Hooper, William Hooper, Mordica Hooper and Henry Creighton and
Clarissa H. his wife and John H. Hooper and Mary Ann his wife, for ourselves, our heirs, executors and
administrators, the said negroes Nell and Charles slaves for life unto the said Mary S. Hooper, her
executors, administrators and assigns, against us the said John Edmondson, James Hooper, Henry L. Hooper,
William Hooper, Mordica Hooper, and Henry Creighton and Clarisssa H his wife and John H. Hooper,
and Mary Ann his wife, our heirs executors and administrators, and against all and every other person
or persons, whatsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents:   In Witness
Whereof, we have hereunto set our hands and seals this sixth day of July Eighteen hundred and fifty two

hundred and fifty two, before the subscribers two Justices of the Peace of the State of Maryland
in and for the City of Baltimore, personally appeared John Edmondson, James Hooper, Henry
L. Hooper, William Hooper, Mordica Hooper, Henry Creighton and Clarissa H his wife,
John H. Hooper and Mary Ann his wife parties grantors named in the within Indenture
or instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be their acts and deed
