Samuel R. Dunnock      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following
    √      from   xd          Bill of sale was received and recorded on the 6.th day of June
John R. Dunnock         1853 to wit
                                                       Know all men by these Presents That I John R. Dunnock
of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland for and in Consideration of love and affection for my
brother Samuel R. Dunnock of the said County and state and of the sum of five dollars to me
in hand paid by the said Samuel R. Dunnock and also for and in Consideration that the said
Samuel R. Dunnock shall well and sufficiently maintain, clothe and provide for me in a plain
and substantial manner suitable to my Condition in life, during the remainder of my natural life
I have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Samuel
R. Dunnock my two negroes one negro man named shadrach aged about thirty five years slave
for life, and negro woman Jane aged about Eighteen a slave for life.  To Have and To Hold the said
negroes unto him the said Samuel R. Dunnock his heirs Executors administrators and assigns against
me the said John R. Dunnock my heirs executors and administrators and against all and every
other person or persons, shall and will warrant and defend      In Testimony whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and affixed my seal this twentieth day of April 1853

             State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit      On this 20.th day of April
1853 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County and state personally appeared
John R. Dunnock and acknowledged the above Bill of sale or Instrument of writing to be his act
and deed for the purposes therein mentioned at the same time appeared Samuel R. Dunnock who being by me
sworn on the Holy Evangely of almighty god says the Consideration therein Contained is true and
bona fide as therein set forth

Daniel N. James      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following mortgage bill of
    √   from   xd        Sale was received and recorded on the 8th day of June 1853 to wit
Samuel A. Tubman                        This indenture made this 23d day of May Anno Domini Eighteen hundred
                              & fifty three between Samuel A. Tubman of Dorchester County and state of Maryland
of the one part and Daniel N. James of the same state & County of the other part whereas the said Samuel A. Tubman
and Benjamin F. Tubman by their bill obligatory duly Executed bearing date the twenty third day of
May Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and fifty three stand bound, and are indebted unto the said Daniel N.
James in the sum of two hundred dollars Current money with interest from the date aforesaid until paid
and written on paper duly stamped according to law as by said bill obligatory will more fully appear, now
this indenture witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the said sum of two hundred dollars & owing
to the said Daniel N. James as aforesaid and the better securing the payment thereof with interest to the
said Daniel N. James, and also in Consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid at and before the sealing
and delivery of these presents I have bargained & sold & by these presents do give grant bargain & sell unto the
said Daniel N. James a mare Called & known by the name of Fanny Fily  To Have and To Hold
the said mare Called Fanny Fily to the said Daniel N. James his Executors administrators and assigns
to his & their own use & behoof.  Provided always and it is the true intent and meaning of these
presents, that if the said Samuel A. Tubman or the said Benjamin F. Tubman, do and
shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Daniel N. James, his Executors administrators
