or assigns the said sum of Two hundred dollars Current money on or before the 17th day of October
Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and fifty four with interest from the 23d day of May Anno Domini Eighteen
hundred & fifty three then and in such Case these presents and every matter and thing herein Contained shall be
utterly null & void to all intents and purposes anything herein Contained to the Contrary notwithstanding

               In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand ^&^ affixed my seal on the day and year
first above written

the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in & for said County, personally appears
Samuel A. Tubman, he being Known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be
the party Mortgagor in the above indenture or bill of sale, and doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument
of writing to be his act and deed and also at the same time appeared Daniel N. James the Mortgagee
in the above indenture or bill of sale, and makes oath that the Consideration ^therein^ expressed is true and bona fide
as therein set forth                                 In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day
and year aforesaid                                                                                                      James Rea


Hugh Mcguire      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following release of mortgage
  √   from   xd      was received and recorded on the 23d day of June 1853 to wit
William J. Jones                  For and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars Current
                            Money to me in hand paid by Hugh Mcguire before the sealing & delivery of these presents,
I release, discharge & quit Claim, the mortgage deed Executed by said Mcguire to John Jones of Col Dec 11.th
1856 and recorded in Liber W. J. No 3 folios 300 & 301 one of the chattel records of Dorchester County
and in Consideration of said sum of money I also discharge & release the property therein mentioned in said
Mortgage Bill of sale, from all claims for the sum of money intended thereby to be secured.
                   Witness my hand & seal this 15.th day of June 1853
