55 & released & by these presents do ^give^ grant sell & release unto the said Daniel N. James the mare Fanny mentioned in the said Bill of sale from James to said Ross dated the 11.th May 1853. To Have and To Hold the said mare Fanny, free cleared & discharged from all claim by from or under said mortgage to him & his assigns forever Witness my hand & seal the day and year aforesaid Witness, Charles Corkran Lewis Ross Jr (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County sct Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 23d day of May ^1853^ before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for Dorchester County, personally appeared Lewis Ross Jr. he being known to me, to be the person who is named & described as & professing to be the party grantor or releasor in the above instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the said instrument to be his act and deed In testimony whereof I have hereto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid Charles Corkran J. P. James A. Stewart Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following √ from xd bill of sale was received and recorded on the 3d day of June 1853 Aschah Pattison to wit Know all men by these presents that I Ascha Pattison of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Seventy five dollars to me in hand paid by James A. Stewart of said County have granted bargained sold assigned and transferred and by these presents do grant bargain, sell assign transferr and set over unto the said James A. Stewart all my right title interest claim & demand in & to a certain negro woman "Kit" mentioned and described in the last will and testament of Atho Pattison deceased of Dorchester County and all the right & title I may ever have had in & to the said negro woman and also all the right title interest claim & demand I now have, or have at any time heretofore had in & to the offspring & each & all of the offspring of the said negro woman Kit To Have and To Hold the same unto the said James A. Stewart his heirs Executors administrators & assigns against me the said Ascha Pattison my heirs Executors & administrators & against all and every other person or persons claiming under them In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this November 1st 1852 Test Charles Corkran her Elias Griswold Achsah x Pattison (L S) mark State of Maryland Dorchester County on this 1st day of November 1852 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in & for said County personally appeared Ascha Pattison and acknowledged the above bill of sale or instrument of writing to be her act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof at the same time appeared James A. Stewart grantee therein named & made Oath on the holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration therein mentioned is true and bona fide as therein stated Taken and acknowledged before Charles Corkran J. P. |
