49 To Have and To Hold the said negro Sophia, for the above mentioned term of years and no longer to the said James M. Carroll his Executors, Administrators and assigns, and I the said Thomas Breerwood, Executor of James Moore deceased the said negro Sophia, unto the said James M. Carroll, his Executors, Administrators and assigns against me and against all and every person whatsoever claiming in any manner by, from or under the heirs of James Moore deces.d shall and will warrant and defend by these presents. In Testimon^e^y whereof, we have hereto set our hands and seals this 28th day of February in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty three In the presence of James Rea Thomas Breerwood Exor of James Moore (seal) State of Maryland Jas M Carroll (seal) Dorchester County Ss Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this twenty eighth day of February Eighteen hundred & fifty three, before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in & for Dorchester County aforesaid, personally appeas Thomas Breerwood Executor of James Moore, and James M. Carroll & severally acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be their act and deed. And at the same time and place allso appered James M. Carroll, before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace the grantee in the said Bill of Sale named, and made oath that the consideration set forth in the said Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth. Sworn to acknowledged before: James Rea Received May 2.d 1853 of James M. Carroll, the sum of one Dollar, in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of Sale. F. J. Henry Clk Nicols Wright Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill √ from xd of Sale was received and recorded on the 5th day of May 1853 to Thomas Breerwood wit: Know all men by these presents, that I Thomas Breerwood Exor of James Moore Executor of James Moore, late of Dorchester County deceased, for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and ninety nine Dollars Current money to him in hand paid by Nicols Wright of said County, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by the said Thomas Breerwood Executor aforesaid, has bargained and sold, conveyed and transfered and by these presents, does bargain, sell, convey and transfer unto the said Nicols Wright, his heirs or assigns, all the right, title, claim and demand of the said James Moore, his heirs or assigns, of, in, to and out of one negro Woman named Margaret to serve fifteen years from the first day of January Eighteen hundred and forty eight and no longer also her negro child named Frederick a slave for life. To Have and To Hold the right, title and interest of the said James Moore deceased, of in and to said negro Woman Margaret for said term and her said child Frederick for life unto the said Nicols Wright his heirs or assigns to his and their sole use and uses and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever In witness whereof the said Thomas Breerwood Executor aforesaid and Nicholas Wright has hereunto subscribed their names and affixed their Seals this fifth day of May Anno Domini Eighteen Hundred and fifty three Signed Sealed and delivered Thomas Breerwood (seal) in presence of Executor of James Moore James Rea Nicols Wright (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County ss Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on Bill of sale delivered to Nicols Wright the 26.th December 1853. |
