said Jacob Covey his heirs and assigns against us the said William D. Penton & Hester C. Penton his wife
our heirs executors administrators and assigns and against all and every persons whomsoever shall and
will warrant and forever defend   In witness whereof we the said William D. Penton & Hester C. Penton
his wife have hereunto set our hands and seals on this 5th day of February in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty three 1853

    State of Maryland Dorchester County Sct:      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that
on this Fifth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three before
the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid, personally
appear William D. Penton and Hester C. Penton his wife, they being known to me to be the persons who
are named and described as, and professing to be, the parties, grantors, to the within Bill of Sale indenture
or instrument of writing and do severally signe seal and acknowledge the said Bill of Sale indenture or
instrument of writing to be their respective act and deed according to the purport true intent ^purport^ & meaning
of the same and the act of assembly in Such Case made and provided   at the same time personally appeared
Jacob Covey, party grantee and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God, that the Consideration
set forth in this bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth      Acknowledged and Sworn before

S. C. Tall              Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was
√  from  x.d           received and recorded on the 16th day of February 1853 to wit
William Benton      Know all men by these presents; that William Burton of Dorchester County
State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the Sum of seventy five dollars current money of Maryland to
me in hand paid, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said William
          do hereby acknowledge, have granted bargained and sold, and by these presents; do grant bargain and
sell, unto S. Columbus Tall his executors administrators and assigns, all the goods hereinafter
after particulair mentioned and described, that is to say, one yoke of Steers, one heifer, one
sow and seven shoats, one ox Cart, yoke and cows two beds bedsteads and furniture, one loot
of pot mettal, six chairs and three gill netts all and singulair which said goods, and
Chattels, are now remaining, standing and being in and upon a Certain Tenement situate
and being on the North End of Reuben Talls farm and now in the occupancy of the
said William Burton.  To Have and To Hold, all and singulair the said goods
chattels, Household Stuff and furniture, and other the premises, above bargained and
sold, or mentioned and Intended so to be, to the said S. Columbus Tall, his executors
administrators, and assigns, forever, and I the said William Burton for myself
my heirs, executors and administrators, all and singulair the goods, House hold stuff
and ^and^ furniture, and other the premises, unto the said S. Columbus Tall his executors
administrators and assigns against me the said William Burton my executors and
administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall
and will warrent and forever defend by these presents, of all and singulair which said goods; household
stuff and furniture, and other the premises, I, the said William Burton have put the said S. Columbus Tall
in full possession, by delivering to him the said S. Columbus Tall, one gill nett at the sealing and delivery
