dining table a passage carpet, sideboard a dining table, a settee, a looking glass one dining room carpet
a pair of and Irons (brass) a set of china, a china dining set, seven feather beds & furniture six bed Steads
two bureaux one mahogany bureau and glass, three wash Stands, two Chamber Carpets one Cook Stove and
utensils proper thereto and therefor, a dozen silver tea Spoons, six table spoons (silver) six silver dessert spoons
a set of ivory handled knives and forks, a set of common knives and forks, a lot of Corn in the Corn Crib, a lot
of green pork in the smoke house, a lot of Corn fodder, one Cow, one plough, one Cutting box, two axes, two
spades, one shovel, one pitch fork, a saddle and bridle one side saddle all which property is now in my
possession.  To Have and To Hold the same described property above bargained and sold to the said
John R. Martin his executors administrators and assigns forever, to his and their only proper use and behoof
          In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this nineteenth
day of January Eighteen Hundred and fifty three

State of Maryland Dorchester County sc:         On this nineteenth day of January Eighteen
hundred and fifty three before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in
and for Dorchester County aforesaid appears Horatio G. Grieves of the County aforesaid and acknowledges
the aforegoing deed or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and
meaning thereof and the acts of Assembly in such Case made and provided and on the same day personally
appeared before me the subscriber John R. Martin the party grantee in the aforegoing deed or bill of
sale and made oath, that the Consideration therein Stated and mentioned is true and bona fide as
therein mentioned and set forth      Acknowledged and sworn before and Certified by

Received the 24th day of January 1853 of John R. Martin the sum of one Dollar in lieu of a stamp on this

William Leonard               Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was
    √   from   xd                 received and recorded on the 8th day of February 1853 to wit:
Thomas Jones of W.m      Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Jones of W.m of Dorchester County
and State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and seventy five Dollars Current Money
to me in hand paid by William Leonard of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and
delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said William Leonard a negro woman Salisty aged
twenty four years or thereabout however Let the age of said negro be what it may she is to serve
Twelve years from date of bill of sale and then be free which said property I will warrent and defend
to the said William Leonard & his heirs and assigns for the above term of years against me my Executors
administrators and against every other person or persons whomsoever      In witness whereof
we have hereunto set our names and affixed our seals ^this^ twenty fourth day of Jan 1853
