31 Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said John S. B. Woolford his executors administrators and assigns all and singular the goods chattels and household stuff hereinafter particularly mentioned and expressed that is to say one horse one carriage one cow and yearling 1 sow & pigs 2 beds & furniture 1 plough and gear 1 Cart & harness 2 Stoves 1 doz Chairs 2 tables and household furniture To Have and To Hold all and singular the said goods chattels and household furniture unto said John S. B. Woolford his executors administrators and assigns to his and their own use and behoof Provided always and it is declared to be the true intent and meaning of these presents that if the said Thomas H. Abbott do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto said John S. B. Woolford his executors administrators or assigns the full sum of one hundred and eighty four dollars and eighty four Cents current money with legal interest for the same on or before the thirtieth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three then and in such Case these presents and every matter and thing herein Contained shall cease determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes any thing herein Contained to the Contrary notwithstanding and the said Thomas H. Abbott for himself his heirs executors or administrators shall and will well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said John S. B. Woolford his executors administrators or assigns the said Sum of one hundred and eighty four dollars and eighty four cents Current money together with interest for the same after the date aforesaid at Such times and after such manner as hereinbefore set forth and agreed for the payment thereof In witness whereof the said Thomas H. Abbott for himself his heirs executors or administrators shall and will well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said John S. B. Woolford his executors administrators or assigns the said Sum of one hundred and eighty four dollars and eighty four cents Current money together with interest for the same after the rate aforesaid at such times and after such manner as hereinbefore set forth and agreed for the payment thereof In witness whereof the said Thomas H. Abbott hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day and year above written Signed Sealed and delivered Thomas H. Abbott (seal) in the presence of Whitefield Woolford State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: On this twenty seventh day of November 1852 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County and State personally appeared Thomas H. Abbott and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and at the same time appeared before me John S. B. Woolford and made oath that the Consideration set forth in the above instrument of writing is true and bona fide as therein set forth to the best of his knowledge Sworn before Whitefield Woolford 1852 Dec 14th Received of John S. B. Woolford the sum of ten cents in lieu of a stamp on this Mortgage Francis J. Henry Clk William J. Jones Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale Exd from was received and recorded on the 14th day of December 1852 to wit: Hugh Maguire (Stamp) Know all men by these presents that I Hugh Maguire of ($1.00) Dorchester County & state of Maryland for & in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars Current money to me in hand paid at and before the Sealing and delivery of these presents, by William J. Jones, the receipt whereof I hereby acknowledge have granted bargained & sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said William J. Jones, his executors administrators and assigns, a negro boy named & called John Anthony Brown. To Have & To Hold the said negro boy named John Anthony Brown, to the said William J. Jones, his executors, administrators & assigns as a Slave until the expiration of twenty four years from this date, & then to be free; and I the said Hugh Maguire for myself, my heirs executors, |
