299 eighth day of February in the year eighteen hundred and fifty eight Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Margaret Twilley (seal) Thomas Storr State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered that on this eighth day of February eighteen hundred and fifty eight before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the said State in and for the County aforesaid personally appeared Margaret Twilley granted in the foregoing Bill of Sale and acknowledged the same to be her act and deed. And at the same time also appeared the within named Francis Harvey grantee and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in the foregoing Bill of Sale is true and bone fide as therein set forth. Sworn Before James M. Wrightson J. P. Richard R Thomas Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Mortgage Bill of Sale was √ from Exd received and recorded on the 27th day of September Anno Domini 1858 to wit: John H. Shehee I John H Shehee of Dorchester County State of Maryland being now indebted to Richard R Thomas of the County & State aforesaid in the sum of One Hundred and thirty fiver dollars in notes of Hand Viz one note dated January 8th 1856 for the sum of Forty dollars with interest from date till paid and the other Note for Ninety five dollars dated January 6th 1857 with interest tell paid in Consideration thereof do hereby bargain and sell to the said Richard R. Thomas the following property viz the entire Crop Corn and fodder, three beds, bedsteads and furniture, half a doz Chairs, one table, one Clock, one Sow and one Shoat Provided that if I the said John H. Shehee shall pay to the said Richard R Thomas the sum of one hundred and thirty five dollars with interest thereon as above mentioned on or before the first day of January eighteen hundred & sixty two then these presents shall be void. Witness my Hand & seal this 22nd day of September Eighteen hundred and fifty eight Test Jno B. Leckie John H Shehee (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: I hereby Certify that on this day of in the year eighteen hundred and fifty eight before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for & in the County & State aforesaid Personally appeared John H. Shehee and acknowledged the above mortgage to be his act. And at the same time before me also appeared Richard R. Thomas the Mortgagee and made oath in due form of law that the consideration in the said Mortgage is true and bonafide as therein set forth. Jno B. Leckie J. P. James N Dawson Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was received Paid From xd and recorded on the 18th day of August Anno Domini 1858 to wit John Muir I John Muir of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland in Consideration of the love and affection which I have and bear unto James N. Dawson of the County and State aforesaid and in consideration of the sum of one dollar paid me by said James N. Dawson do hereby give and grant unto the said James N. Dawson all my right title and interest in and to the negroes hereinafter named which formerly belonged to James Muir late of Dorchester County deceased viz. negro man called Daniel, negro ^wo^man called Rachel, negro woman called Mary negro girl called Harriet and negro girl called Rhoda all of which said negroes are slaves for life.
