298 9th day of January personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for Dorchester County aforesaid and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be his act. R. R. Robertson J.P. Alfred J. Mobray Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Mortgage Bill of & Robert Bell Sale was received and recorded on the 26th day of December 1857 to wit √ From xd I Martin Luther Street of Dorchester County Maryland in Consideration of Martin L. Street Alfred J. Mobray and Robert Bell of the same County and State becoming security for me on an obligation in favor of William H. Bowdle for the sum of One hundred and sixty one Dollars with interest thereon from the fourteenth day of December eighteen hundred and fifty seven payable six months thereafter and to secure and indemnify the said Afred J. Mobray and Robert Bell from all loss by reason of their securityship as aforesaid do hereby bargain and sell to the said Alfred J Mobray and Robert Bell the following property to wit: one bay mare. Provided that if I the said Martin Luther Street shall pay to the said William H. Bowdle the said sum of One Hundred and sixty one Dollars with the interest thereon when due then these presents shall be void. Witness my Hand and seal this fourteenth day of December Eighteen Hundred and fifty seven. The erasure of two words "his Security" occurring in the 11th Martin Luther Street (seal) line above made before the signing & sealing of this Indenture Test R. R. Robertson State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: I hereby certify that on this fourteenth day of December Eighteen hundred and fifty seven personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for Dorchester County aforesaid Martin Luther Street and acknowledged the foregoing Mortgage Bill of Sale to be his act and deed. Francis Harvey Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill Paid from xd of Sale was received and recorded on the 18th day of February 1858 to wit: Margaret Twilley Know all men by these presents that I Margaret Twilley of Dorchester County and State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Fifty Dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Francis Harvey of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Francis Harvey his Executors administrators and assigns one negro Girl named Kitty aged six years a slave for life which property is now in my possession. To Have and To Hold the same described property above bargained and sold to the same Francis Harvey his Executors administrators and assigns forever to his and there only proper use and benefit and I the said Margaret Twilley for myself, my Executors and administrators shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents to the said Francis Harvey his executors administrators and assigns the said described property against me my executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming the saim or any part thereof.
