291 Peace for Dorchester County aforesaid, Charles Shenton, Senior and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be his act. Charles Corkran Thomas P. Barnett Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was received and recorded √ from xd on the 22nd day of August Anno Domini 1857 to wit: George Willey I George Willey of Dorchester County State of Maryland in Consideration of Three Hundred dollars paid me by Tho.s P. Barnett of Dorchester County do hereby bargain and sell to the said Thomas P. Barnett the following property to wit. One mare Fanny, one more Polly, one Colt John, one yoke of steers, Jim and Dan, one Cow & calf, 2 Heifers, 15 Head of Hogs, one ox cart, 2 ploughs, 2 Harrows, one crop corn now growing and all my Household and Kitchen furniture. Witness my Hand and seal this 5th day of August 1857. his Test James Moobray George + Willey (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: mark I hereby Certify that on this 5th day of August 1857. Personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for District No 7 of the County aforesaid, George Willey, and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be his act and at the time came before me Thomas P. Barnett above mentioned and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration set forth in this Bill of Sale is true and Bona fide as therein set forth according to the act of Assembly made and provided Acknowledged & Sworn Before James Moobray George M. Hilan Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was received √ from xd and recorded on the 8th day of September Anno Domini 1857 to wit: Dulcenar Scott I Dulcinar Scott of Dorchester County and State of Maryland in Consideration of the sum of Seventy five dollars paid me by George M. Hilan free negro of said County do hereby bargain and sell to the said George M. Hilan my negro Slave Leuezar Jane now wife of said George M Hilan for the term three years from the date hereof the said negro being a slave for the term of three years from the date hereof and no longer and the said Dulcenar Scott being entitled to said slave for the whole of said term Witness my Hand and seal this 31st day of August 1857. his Test Jacob A. Carsey Dulcenar x Scott (seal) mark State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: I hereby Certify that on this 31st day of August 1857 Dulcenar Scott Personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for Dorchester County aforesaid and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be her act. Acknowledged before C. C. Cannon J. P. Joseph R. Stewart Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Deed ^Mortgage^ was received and recorded on √ from xd the 9th day of September Anno Domini 1857 to wit: Joseph Farrow free Cold Man I Joseph Farrow free Colored man of Dorchester County Maryland by my Bill Obligatory or obligation together with Joseph R Stewart of the same County and State aforesaid as surety being now indebted to John Kiah free negro of the County and State aforesaid in the sum of Fifty dollars with interest from about the 13th day of April last and in order to indemnify and save harmless the said Stewart from all loss or damage he may sustain on account of his surety-ship the said Joseph Farrow free colored man doth agree to execute this mortgage or Instrument of writing. Now this Indenture Witness that the said Joseph Farrow free colored man for and in Consideration of the said stewart's liability on account of his suretyship on said Bill Obligatory or obligation and also in further Consideration of the sum of One dollar Current money paid by said Stewart the said Farrow doth bargain Deld to Jos R Stewart 16 Nov 1858 |
