Phelps land and apart on Thomas McGrath's land, four yoke of oxen, twenty head of Hogs, two timber carts, four
ox carts, one horse Cart, 1 Waggon, one Schooner called "Herald", three harrows, four plows, all the Goods wares and
merchandise and articles of every description whatever in the State rooms occupied by me situated at Airey's Meeting
House, one negro boy named Stephen (bound boy) until he arrives to the age of twenty one years, one negro boy named
John Henry (bound boy) until he arrives to the age of twenty one years, seven beds, bedsteads and furniture, fourteen
chairs, one sofa, four tables, four Carpets, two mantle clocks, one wardrobe, four water stands, three looking glasses,
three hair trunks and all the rest and residue of my household and kitchen furniture.   Witness my hand and seal
this tenth day of August Eighteen hundred and fifty seven.

in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty seven personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace
for Dorchester County aforesaid, John Davis and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be his act:  And at the same time
before me also appeared Jacob Willey and made oath in due form of law that the Consideration in the said Bill of Sale
is true and bona fide as therein set forth.

John R. Shenton               Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was received
    √   from   xd                 and recorded on the 13th day of August Anno Domini 1857 to wit.
Charles Shenton Sen.r      I Charles Shenton Senior of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland in Consideration
                                        of love and affection for my son John R. Shenton and of one dollar paid me by
John R. Shenton do hereby bargain and sell to the said John R. Shenton the following property to wit:  one
negro man Called Elsey aged forty years, one negro woman Hannah, aged thirty six years, one negro boy called
Thomas, aged nineteen years, one negro Girl called Ann, aged eighteen years, one negro man called Jacob, aged fifty five
years, one negro Girl called Keziah, aged fourteen years, slaves for life.   Witness my Hand and seal this thirteenth
day of August, Eighteen hundred and fifty seven.

to be his act.  And at the same time appeared John R. Shenton and being by me duly sworn on the Holy Evangely
of Almighty God made oath that the consideration in said Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth.

Terresa Shenton               Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was received

                                        of love and affection for my niece Terresa Shenton and of one dollar paid me by Terresa
Shenton do hereby bargain and sell to the said Terresa Shenton during her natural life and after her death to
John R. Shenton the following property to wit:  one negro Girl Mary, aged ten years a slave for life.  Witness
my Hand and seal this thirteenth day of August Eighteen Hundred and fifty seven.
