285 sixty five Dollars seventy six Cents with the interest thereon as aforesaid on or before the first day of August Eighteen hundred and fifty seven then these presents shall be void. Witness our hands and seals this third day of Eighteen hundred and fifty seven Test. (The erasure of part of the 9th Charles Baker (seal) & all the 10 line was first made Elwell Parks (seal) Sol R Cahal I hereby Certify that on this third day of July eighteen hundred and fifty seven before the subscribe a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid personally appeared Charles Baker and Elwell Parks and acknowledged the foregoing Mortgage to be their respective act & deed Acknowled before Sol R. Cahall State of Maryland Talbot County to wit: I hereby Certify that on this third day of July Eighteen hundred and fifty seven before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Talbot County Personally appeared Thomas Hughlett the Mortgagee in within Mortgage named and made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that the Consideration in the said Mortgage is true and Bona fide as therein set forth Sworn before Sol R. Cahal State of Maryland Talbot County to wit: I hereby Certify that Soloman R. Cahal Esquire before whom the aforegoing acknowledgment and affidavit was made and who has thereto subscribed his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Talbot County duly Commissioned and sworn In Testimony Whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the seal of the Circuit (seal) Court for Talbot County this 3.d day of July A D 1857 Sam.l T. Hopkins Clk Circuit Court Talbot County Mailed to S H July 11 1857 Dulcena Scott Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Deed of √ To xd Manumission was received and recorded on the 7th day of July 1857 to wit Sundry Negroes To all whom it may concern Be it known that I Dulcena Scott of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free the following negroes to wit Negro Woman Maria Jane Willen and her four children "Viz" Samuel Francis James and John which said negroes I do declare to be henceforth free from me my executors administrators and assigns forever. In witness whereof I the said Dulcena Scott hath hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 21st day of December Anno Domini 1855.
