262 Samuel Traverse and W.m K Traverse executors as aforesaid and the said Joseph H Edmondson as administrator of aforesaid have hereunto subscribed their names and affixed their seals on this 4th day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty seven. Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Samuel Traverse (seal) Levi D. Traverse W.m K. Traverse (seal) Washington A. Smith Jos H. Edmondson (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County sct I hereby Certify that on this 4th of March in the year one thousand Eight hundred and fifty seven before me a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appeared Samuel Traverse and W.m K Traverse and Joseph H Edmondson the parties to the foregoing Bill of Sale or instrument of writing and severally acknowledged the same to be their act and Deed. And I further Certify that at the same time and place the said Joseph H Edmondson made oath in due form of Law that the Consideration set forth in said Bill of Sale is true & bona fide as therein set forth. Witness my name the day and year aforesaid. Levi D. Travers J. P. John H. Traverse Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following receipt was received and recorded on Paid from xd the 24th day of March Anno Domini 1857 to wit Mary H. Traverse Rec.d of my son John H. Travers the sum of Thirty dollars in full for my negro boy John Henry aged nine months old and I hereby transfer all my writh title claim and demand to the above boy Witness my hand this 20 day of October 1847 her Test W. R. Traverse Mary H. x Travers mark Delivered to T H Hicks Esqr 24 March 1857 William A. Reed Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Deed ^Mortgage Bill of Sale^ was √ from xd received and recorded on the 14th day of February 1857 to wit: Thomas Sard This Indenture made this ninth day of February Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and fifty seven by and between Thomas Sard of Dorchester County and State of Maryland of the first part and William A Reed of the County and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the said party of the first part in Consideration of the sum of One Hundred and one Dollars lawful money of the United States to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said party of the second part; All my Household and Kitchen furniture and all other the Goods and chattels mentioned in the Schedule hereunto annexed and now in the House and upon the Farm whereon I at present reside. To Have and To Hold all and singular the Goods Chattels and effects above bargained and sold or intended hereby so to be unto the party of the second part his Executors administrators and assigns forever: And I the said party of the first part for myself my heirs executors and administrators all and singular the Goods and Chattels above Del to W A Reed March 24 1862 |
