John Bradshaw         Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that
√   From   xd             the following Bill of Sale was recorded on the
James H Bradshaw   16th day of January 1857 to wit
& wife
                                We James H. Bradshaw and Mary A Bradshaw
his wife of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland in
consideration of six Hundred dollars current money paid us
by John Bradshaw of the same County and State aforesaid
do hereby bargain and sell to the said John Bradshaw
a negro girl called Mary Ann aged about fifteen years
a slave for life.  Witness our hands and seals this fifteenth
day of January Eighteen Hundred & fifty seven.

    State of Maryland dorchester County to wit:

    I hereby certify that on this fifteenth day of January
Eighteen Hundred and fifty seven before the subscriber a
Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for
the County aforesaid personally appeared James H Bradshaw
and Mary A Bradshaw his wife and did each acknowledge
the aforegoing Bill of Sale to be their respective act.  At the
same time and place aforesaid personally appeared before
me Justice of the peace as aforesaid John Bradshaw vendee
within Named and made oath in due form of law
that the consideration set forth in this Bill of Sale is
true and bona-fide as there in set forth.
Acknowledged and sworn before      Charles Corkran J. P.


James H. Ratcliff      Be it remembered and it is hereby certified
√      From   xd        that the following Receipt was recorded on
James L. Ratcliff      the 17th day of January 1857 to wit
                               Received of James H. Ratcliff the sum of
four Hundred and ninty seven dollars and fifty three
cents in full for crop of wheat, top fodder, blades, cattle, horses
carts, farming utensels, hogs, tools, some house hold and
some kitchen furniture

    √   To   xd                that the following Manumission was recorded
Lucy Cornish negro      on the 26th day of January 1857 to wit
