252 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the State and County aforesaid personally appeared John Brannock and acknowledged the above deed of Manumission or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in said case made and provided Acknowledged before Charles Corkran J. P. Thomas Moore Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that √ From xd the following Bill of Sale was recorded on the 13th Edmund Parkes day of January 1857 to wit & wife Know all men by these presents that we Edmund Parkes & Harriet Parkes his wife of Dorchester County State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of Seven Hundred Dollars current money to us in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by Thomas Moore of the County and State aforesaid we have granted bargained sold & delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Thomas Moore our negro slave John which said slave John we will warrent and defend to the said Thomas Moore his executors administrators and assigns against us our executors administrators and against every other person whomsoever in witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this thirtyeth day of December Anno Domini 1856. his Edmund x Parkes (seal) mark her Hariet x Parkes (seal) mark Maryland Dorchester County to wit On this 30th day of December Ano Domini 1856 before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County personally appeared Edmund Parkes and Hariet Parkes his wife and acknowledged the aforegoing instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided.
