246 same described negroes above bargained and sold to the said John N Wright his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever to his and their only proper use and benefit and I the said Ann Wright for myself my heirs Executors and administrators shall and will warrant and defend by these presents to the said John N Wright his heirs Executors administrators and assigns the said described negroes against me my heirs Executors administrators against all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming the same or any part thereof. In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the eighteenth day of November Eighteen Hundred and fifty six William W. Robinson J. P. Ann Wright (seal) Emily Ann Harris wife Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the of Isaac J T Harris following Bill of Sale was received and recorded √ from xd on the 6th day of December A. D. 1856 to wit. S. W. Lecompte I S. W. Lecompte of Dorchester County in consideration of four hundred dollars paid me by Emily Ann Harris wife of Isaac J. T. Harris of Dorchester County do hereby bargain and sell to the said Emily Ann Harris wife of Isaac J. T. Harris the following property to wit Four beds and beding one mahogany sofa, one dozen cain seat chairs, two carpets, two Mahogany tables, one looking glass, and all the residue of the household and kitchen furniture one market waggon, one buggy waggon and harness seven head of hoggs, three barrels brandy, twenty one candy jars, one box candles, two half boxes of candles, one barrel crackers, eight decanters and all the residue of goods in Store house, Two double barrel guns, one single barrel gun, two haul seins two seine boats, one bay horse. Witness my hand and seal this 6th day of December 1856 Test Charles Corkran J. P. S. W. Lecompte (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County to Wit I hereby certify that on this 6th day of December in the year 1856 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for Dorchester County and State aforesaid personally appeared S. W. Lecompte and acknowledged the foregoing bill of sale to be his acts. And at the same time also appeared Emily Ann Harris wife of Isaac J. T. Harris and made oath in due form of law that the consideration set forth in the said bill of sale is just and true as therein set forth Charles Corkran Levin Seward Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that √ from xd the following Reciept was received and recorded on R. E. Phillips the 7th day of December A. D. 1856 to wit Received December 3d 1856 of Levin Seward nine hundred and fifty dollars in full for the following negroes slaves for life viz. Negro Woman Eliza aged 26 years old warrented sound & healthy, negro girl Anna aged 4 years sound |
