Dunnock of Baltimore City in the State of Maryland for and in consideration
of the Sum of Eight Hundred Dollars current money of Maryland to me in
hand paid by Levin A. Insley of Dorchester county in the State of Maryland
at and before the Sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof
I the Said Sophia Dunnock do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained
and Sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the Said Levin
A. Insley his heirs Executors administrators and assigns the following negroes
slaves for life and now in the possession of the Said Levin A. Insley to wit:
negro woman Henrietta, aged about thirty Six years and her four youngest
Children viz Hannah, aged about Seven years, Rachel aged about Six years,
Thomas aged about two years and Six months, and Levin aged about Sixteen
months, the Said negro woman Henrietta is sold to the Said Levin A. Insley
to remain in Dorchester County and not to be carried beyond the limits of
said County unless for Some criminal offence.  To Have and To Hold the
said negroes, Henrietta, Hannah, Rachel and Levin as above bargained and
sold or mentioned or intended so to be to the Said Levin A. Insley his heirs
Executors administrators and assigns forever and I the Said Sophia Dunnock
for myself my heirs Executors and administrators all and Singular the
said negroes Henrietta, Hannah, Thomas and Levin and other the premises
unto the Said Levin A. Insley his Executors administrators and assigns
against me the Said Sophia Dunnock my Executors and administrators and
against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will
warrant and forever defend by these presents.  In Witness whereof the
said Sophia Dunnock hath hereunto set her hand and affixed her
Seal this Third day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and fifty Six                                             Sophia Dunnock [seal]

State of Maryland Baltimore City to wit:
                Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this Third
day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty
Six before the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland
in and for the City of Baltimore personally appears Sophia Dunnock
she being known to me to be the person who is named and described as
the party grantor in the above Bill of Sale and acknowledged the Same
to be her act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning
thereof and the acts of Assembly in Such cases made and provided
                                        Acknowledged before   A. H. Penington J. P.

State of Maryland Baltimore city, Sct.
             I hereby certify that Augustine H. Pennington Esquire before whom
the annexed acknowledgment was made and who has thereto subscribed
his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of
Maryland in and for the city of Baltimore duly commissioned and Sworn
