221 Mitchell of Baltimore city & county and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred dollars lawful money of the united States in hand paid by Benjamin Jenifer of Dorchester County in the Said State at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the Said Benjamin Jenifer his Executors, Administrators and Assigns my negro Slave Thomas Henson aged about thirty two years to Serve until the end of the term of January 1st 1863 To Have and To Hold the Said described negro Slave Thomas Henson to the said Benjamin Jenifer his Executors ^Administrators^ and Assigns forever and I the Said Mary Mitchell for myself my Heirs Executors and Administrators the Said negro slave Thomas Henson unto the Said Benjamin Jenifer his Executors, Administrators and Assigns against me the Said Mary Mitchell my Executors and Administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever Shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this second day of June Eighteen Hundred and Fifty Six Signed Sealed and delivered Mary Mitchell (seal) in the presence of B. Janifer (seal) Saml. M. Lawder Marcellus A. Mitchur State of Maryland City of Baltimore ss Be it remembered That on this Second day of June 1856 before the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace for Said City appears Mary Mitchell and acknowledges the above Instrument of Writing to be her act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof. Acknowledged Before Sam.l M. Lauder, Marcellus A Mitchur State of Maryland Baltimore City, Sct. I hereby certify that Samuel M. Lauder Esquire before whom the annexed acknowledgments were made and who has thereto subscribed his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for the city of Baltimore duly commissioned and sworn. (official) In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal of (Seal) the superior court of Baltimore city this 10th day of June A. D. 1856 Edwd.
