Margaret Staplefort      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Receipt
          from      xd         was received and recorded on the 8th day of February 1856 to wit
James L. Geoghegan    Received January 24th 1856 of Mrs Margaret Staplefort forty
                                    four Dollars and seventy eight Cents it being in full for negro man
Vance Murray" slave for life which negro I have this day said to her which property
was not known at the time  I said to Wm Staplefort all of the property heired by me at
the death of Moses Geoghegan.  As Witness my hand and seal this the above mentioned day
and year.

James Redditt                        Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that
       from      √   xd                 the following receipt was received and recorded on
William H. Radcliffe admr.      the 29th day of February 1856, to wit:
                                              Received January the 14th 1856 of James Redditt Esqr.
the Sum of One Thousand Dollars and Eighty Dollars in full for the purchase
of negro man Charles Hicks belonging to the Estate of Levin P. Cook late of
Dorchester County deceased which Said negro man is warranted and guaranteed
to him as a slave for life and healthy and Sound at this time and as such
is delivered to the Said James Redditt and was sold by order of the orphan's
court for Dorchester County            Witness my hand      William H. Radcliff

Greenbury Holt &          Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the
Thomas M. Meredith      following Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the
          from   √   xd         3d day of March 1856 to wit:
Robert Willey                                 Know all men by these presents that I
                                      Robert Willey of Dorchester County and State of Maryland
for and in consideration of the Sum of Fourty Dollars current money of
Maryland to me in hand paid by Greenbury Holt and Thomas M. Meredith
of Dorchester County and State of Maryland have granted bargained and
sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the Said Greenbury
Holt and Thomas M. Meredith their heirs and assigns the following property
to wit   three Stears, three milch Cows  Twenty three heads Hogs  To
have and To Hold the above described property as above bargained and sold
unto the Said Greenbury Holt and Thomas M. Meredith their heirs executors
administrators and assigns against me the Said Robert Willey my heirs
executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons
whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend      In Testimony
whereof I Robert Willey have hereunto set my hand and affixed seal
this Twenty Eight Day of February Eighteen hundred and fifty Six
