19 of September Eighteen hundred and fifty two his Signed sealed and delivered Washington x Rumbly (Seal) in the presence of mark Nicholas Langfit State of Maryland Dorchester County Ss Be it remembered that on this twentieth day of September 1852 before the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said County appears Washington Rumbly and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed, according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before Nicholas Langfit State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered that on this 20.th day of September 1852 personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for Said County Joel Cornwell and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the within bill of Sale was given for a bona fide Consideration and that there is neither fraud or deception in the same Sworn and Certified by Nicholas Langfit J. P. Received the 22.nd day of September 1850 of Joel Cornwell the sum of Ten Cents in lieu of a stamp on this Mortgage Bill of sale Francis J. Henry Clk William Harker Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Exd from Sale was received and recorded on the 12th day of March 1858 to wit: John W. Lecompte Know all men by these presents, that I John W. Lecompte of Dorchester County, in the State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Two Hundred dollars, Current money, to me in hand paid, by William Harker of Baltimore City in the said State at & before the sealing and delivery of these presents; the receipt whereof I the said John W. Lecompte, do hereby acknowledge, he granted, bargained, and sold and by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto the said William Harker his executors administrators and assigns negro Thomas Henry Jenkins a slave to serve until the 15th day of December 1865 and no longer as by the will of Joshua Breerwood of Dorchester County will more fully appear To Have and To Hold, the said negro Thomas Henry Jenkins above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended to so to be for the aforesaid Term to the said William Harker his Executors, administrators & assigns and I the said John W. Lecompte for my self, my Heirs, Executors and administrators the said negro Thomas Henry Jenkins unto the said William Harker his Executors, administrators and assigns against me the said John W. Lecompte my executor and administrator and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, Shall & will warrant & for ever defend by these presents In witness we have hereto set our hands & seals this 12th day of March Anno Domini 1853 Test John W. Lecompte James Rea J. P. William Harker State of Maryland Dorchester County ss: Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 12th day of March in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty three before the subscriber a Justice of the peace in & for the State of Maryland in & for Dorchester County personally appears John W. Lecompte of Dorchester County & William Harker of the City of Baltimore and acknowledge severally the above bill of sale to be their act and deed at the same time and place also appeared William Harker the grantee in the above bill of sale, named, and made oath that the Consideration mentioned in the said bill of sale |
