18 for myself my heirs, Executors, or administrators, the said negro woman & her child, unto the said Noah J. Rawleigh his executors, administrators and assigns, against me the said James L. Colston my executors, administrators, and against all person Claiming by through or under me, shall and will forever warrant and defend and I the Said James L. Colston have put the said Noah J. Rawleigh in full possession of the said negro woman & her child In witness whereof I the said James L. Colston have hereunto set my name & affixed my seal this 13th day of September Anno Domini Eighteen hundred & fifty two Signed Sealed and delivered James L. Colston (Seal) in presence of Charles Corkran J. P. State of Maryland Dorchester County Sct Be it Remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 13th day of September Anno Domini Eighteen hundred & fifty two before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid personally appeared James L. Colston he being known to be to be the person who is named and described as, & professing to be the party grantor or vender in the foregoing bill of Sale and doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument of writing to be his act and deed and also at the same time appears the within mentioned Noah J. Rawleigh the vendee and makes oath that the Consideration therein expressed is true & bona fide as therein set forth In testimony whereof I have hereunto Subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid Charles Corkran J. P. Joel Cornwell Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill Exd from of Sal was received and recorded on the 22nd day of September 1852 to wit: Washington Rumbly Know all men by these presents, That Washington Rumbly of Dorchester County and State of Maryland, for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty seven dollars and nine Cents lawful money of the united States, in hand paid by Joseph Cornwell at or before the Sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged; Have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, unto the said Joel Cornwell his Executors, Administrators and assigns, one Brown mare named Dove, one yoke oxen, 1 Ox Cart Seventy five barrels of Corn more or less twenty Bushels wheat 1 Cow and Calf 1 lots top & Blade fodder 1 Bed bedstead & Covering & two shoats All of which property I have this bill of sale to the said Joel Cornwell to secure him him against lost of the above named sum or any part thereof and it is further understood and agreed that when said Rumbly shall well and truly pay to the aforesaid Cornwell the amount above specified ($127.09) the aforesaid Cornwell shall deliver up to said Rumbly the property above mentioned provided the amount above mentioned shall be paid on or before the 1st day of January next otherwise a public Sale shall be held to satisfy the same for Cash. To Have and To Hold the said described brown mare, yoke oxen, Carts, corn wheat Cow & Calf top & blade fodder Bed bedstead & Covering & shoats to the said Joel Cornwell his Executors, Administrators and assigns forever; and he the said Washington Rumbly for himself Heirs, Executors and administrators, the said property unto the said Joel Cornwell his Executors, Administrators and assigns, against him the said Washington Rumbly his Executors and administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever Shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.
