160 William Henry Camper Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following √ from xd Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 9th day of May Henry Camper 1855 to wit Know all men by these presents that I Henry Camper of Dorchester County and State of Maryland of the first Part for and in consideration of the sum of thirty dollars lawful money of the united States to me in hand paid at or before the ensealing and delivery of these Presents by William Henry camper my son of the county and State aforesaid of the Second Part the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained sold and by these Presents do grant and convey unto the said Party of the second Part his Executors Administrators and assigns one red work Steer one red Cow two red Heifers aged three years and two red yearlings. To Have and To Hold the Same unto the Said Party of the Second Part his Executors Administrators and assigns forever And I do for myself my heirs executors and administrators covenant and agree to and with the Said Party of the Second Part to warrant and defend the sale of said Property goods and chattels hereby sold unto the Said Party of the Second Part his Executors Administrators and assigns against all and every person and persons whomsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 9th day of May Eighteen hundred and fifty five Sealed and delivered in the presence of Henry Camper (seal) Charles Corkran State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this ninth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty five before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County personally appeared Henry Camper and acknowledged the within Bill of Sale or Instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the property therein mentioned and thereby bargained and sold to be the right title and estate of William Henry Camper his heirs and assigns forever according to the acts of assembly in Such Cases made and provided Acknowledged before and Certified by Charles Corkran J. P. Samuel Traverse Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Deed √ To xd of Manumission was received and recorded on the 12th day of May Negroes Mary George in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and fifty Eliza & Mary Ann five to wit: To all whom it may concern be it known that I Samuel Traverse of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free & by these presents do hereby release from Slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman Mary aged forty two years & her three children viz: George aged six years Eliza aged four years & Mary Ann aged about one year and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the Said Mary and children George Eliza & mary Ann I do hereby declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my executors or administrators forever In Witness whereof the Said Samuel Traverse has hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this Eleventh day of May Eighteen hundred and fifty five |
