142 the library of the said John N. Steele all the said negroes and books having come to the possession of the said John C. Henry and Daniel M. Henry by virtue of the deed of trust aforesaid To have and to hold all the said negroes and books above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said James Steele as administrator of the said John N. Steele as aforesaid; of all and singular which said negroes and books the said John C. Henry and Daniel M. Henry have put the said James Steele in full possession by delivering to him one book at the Sealing and delivery of these presents in the name of the whole property hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be unto him the said James Steele administrator as aforesaid In testimony whereof the said John C. Henry and Daniel M. Henry have hereunto set their hands and seals this 27th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four John C. Henry (seal) Signed sealed and delivered Daniel M. Henry (seal) in the presence of W.m D. Barrow State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this twenty seventh day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four before the Subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appeared John C. Henry and Daniel M. Henry they being personally known to me to be the persons whom are named and described as and professing to be the parties to the foregoing bill of sale and severally acknowledged the Same to be their respective act and deed. And at the same time and place also appeared before me James Steele the grantee named in the said bill of Sale and made Oath that the Consideration set forth in the said bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid W.m D. Barrow 1854 December 27.th Received of James Steele one dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of Sale F. J. Henry Clk John D. Farquharson Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the √ From xd following Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 30.th Levin M. Lewis day of December 1854 to wit: Know all men by these presents that I Levin M. Lewis of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Eight Hundred Dollars Current money of Maryland to me in hand paid by John D. Farquharson of the Same County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the Said Levin M. Lewis do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John D. Farquharson his heirs Executors administrators and assigns the following negroes to wit: one negro man named William Jolly aged thirty four years a slave for life and one negro woman named Mary Jolley aged thirty five years a slave for life. To Have and To Hold the said negroes William Jolley and Mary Jolley as above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the Said John W.
