182 Dulcena Scott Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Manumission was received √ To xd and recorded on the 18th day of September A. D. 1854 to wit: Sundry Negroes To all whom it may concern be it known that I Dulcenar Scott of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free as follows my negro man William Jerome now nineteen years old to serve till he is thirty one years old Louisa Jane nineteen years old the first of Sept next to serve till she is twenty six years old Emely Jane seventeen years old now to serve till she is twenty six years old Rachel Catharin sixteen years old next January to serve till she is twenty six years old Henry Clay twelve years old next July to serve toll he is twenty Eight years old Ebrey Dean Holoway nine years old to serve till he is thirty one years old I do declare the above named negroes to be manumitted and free after serving out the terms of years specified in the above instrument of writing from me my Executors or administrators forever. In witness whereof I Dulcenar Scott have set my hand and affixed my seal this thirteenth day of June Eighteen hundred and fifty four Signed Sealed in presence of his her John Langrall William x Todd Dulcnea x Scott (seal) mark mark State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit Be it remembered that on this thirteenth day of June in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty four before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said state in and for the county aforesaid personally appeared Dulcenar Scott party to the within indenture and acknowledged the said indenture to be her act and deed John Langrall Delivered to William Todd Feby 11.th 1861 Martha Hicks Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Bill of Sale was received and √ From xd recorded on the 2d day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Levin W. Stewart & fifty four to wit: Uriah Mcguire admrs Know all men by these presents that we L. W. Stewart & Uriah Maguire (Administrator of Henry Mcquire of Henry Maguire deceased) of Dorchester County State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and twenty dollars to them in hand paid by Martha Hicks of Baltimore City State of Maryland at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain & sell unto the said Martha Hicks her executors administrators & assigns negro girl Sally now aged twelve years three months and eighteen days to serve as a slave until she attains to the age of forty five years Consequently she will have to serve 32 years 8 months 2 days She the said Sally having been a slave for life to the said Henry Maguire but by his will freed at the age of 45 years To Have and To Hold the said negro girl Sally unto her the said Martha Hicks her executors administrators & assigns until the said girl Sally shall attain the full age of 45 years & no longer In witness whereof we L. W. Stewart & Uriah Maguire the seller & Martha Hicks the buyer have hereunto set our hands & seals this 16 sept 1854 L. W. Stewart (seal) Test W.m R. R. Tall a justice of the Peace in & for Said County & State L. W. Stewart Uriah Maguire & Martha Hicks to me known to be the persons mentioned & described as and professing to be the seller & buyer in the foregoing Bill of Sale and did severally acknowledge that they did Execute the same for the uses & purposes therein named at the same time the said Martha Hicks made Oath before me on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in the said bill of sale is true & bona fide as therein set forth W.m R.
