130 whomsoever in witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this 31st day of July in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty four his In the presents of Daniel x Murphey (seal) mark James B. Thompson Saml Vane Thomas J. Lord State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit That on this 31st day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said county the within named Daniel Murphey and acknowledged the within Bill of Sale to be his act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning of the same and at the same time came before me James Murphey within mentioned and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in this bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth according to the true intent and meaning of the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided Acknowledged Before James B Thompson (seal) Received the 13th day of September 1854 of James Murphey the Sum of one Dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of Sale F. J. Henry Clk Mary Murphey Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following Bill of Sale was received and √ from xd recorded on the 14th day of September 1854 to wit Daniel Murphey Know all men by these presents that I Daniel Murphey of Dorchester county and the State of Maryland for the consideration of the Sum of five Hundred Dollars current money to me in hand paid by May Murphy of the County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I the said Daniel Murphee do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Mary Murphy my Negroes slaves Sarah & Emeline which said slaves Sarah & Emeline I will warrant and forever defend to the said Mary Murphey her executors administrators and assigns and against my Executors administrators and assigns and against every other person or persons whomsoever. Stewart and Uriah Henry Maguire Maguire administrators of Henry Maguire deceased of Dorchester County & state of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of four hundred & sixty one Dolls current Money to them in hand paid by Hugh Neild of Dorchester County State aforesaid on and before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged: Have granted bargained and sold and Delivered January 23d 1855 to Hugh Neild Jr |
