127 administrators or assigns, on demand and whereas the said William C. Huffington at the proper instance and request of the said Richard A. Keene has assumed the payment of certain debts of the said Richard A. Keene to certain Lewis Ross Thomas J. Dail and Levin Dail (partners trading under the style & firm of Thomas J. Dail & Brother and Francis J. Henry and whereas also the said Richard A. Keene is desirous of securing the payment of the debt aforesaid due and owing from him to the said William C. Huffington and also of indemnifying and saving harmless the said William C. Huffington from all loss and injury by reason of his assumption aforesaid of the debts aforesaid of the said Richard to a certain Lewis Ross, Thomas J. Dail & Brother and Francis J. Henry and to secure the payment of the said debt due and owing as aforesaid from him the said Richard to the said William and to indemnify and save harmless the said William from all loss and injury which he might sustain by reason of his assumption as aforesaid of the debts of the said Richard as aforesaid the said Richard doth execute these presents: Now for and in consideration of the premises and the sum of five dollars to the said Richard in hand paid by the said William at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Richard hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said William his executors administrators and assigns all and singular the the following property goods and Chattels to wit: Four horses and one colt two yokes of working oxen three milch cows two heifers three male yearlings three calves five sheep two sows and two pigs and nineteen shoats one horse cart one pair of wagon wheels three new yoke ploughs four harrows one hinge harrow one roller two scythes Cradles two rakes two ox yokes 4 sets of plough gear three axes three wedges two spades two shovels two pitchforks three hoes two grubbing hoes one four wheel Carriage and harness one saddle & bridle one wheat fan corn cradle one half bushel four baskets twenty geese thirty turkeys fifty dunghill fowls six beds and their furniture including sheets blankets and counter panes and coverlids one bureau one secretary desk one settee two dozen chairs one breakfast table one dining Table two common Tables two stands two pairs of shovels three looking glasses two wash bowls and pitchers 4 chambers six bed steads one set of common dining china one set of tea china three waiters mantil ornaments one dozen towells pots ovens kettles and other household and kitchen furniture one crop of wheat thrashed and in the straw and one crop of corn now standing on the land and fodder (these crops subject to the payment of the rent of the Landlord) twenty ounces of silver plate negro man Levin for the balance of his term of Servitude who is to be free at thirty five years of age and is believed to have been thirty years of age in January Eighteen hundred and fifty four and will be thirty five in January Eighteen hundred and fifty nine all and singular which said property goods and chattels are now remaining and being in a certain messuage or tenement situate in Dorchester county aforesaid and now in the occupation of the said Richard. To Have and To Hold al land singular the said property goods and chattels above bargained and sold or meant mentioned or intended so to be to the said William his Executors administrators and assigns forever; provided always and it is the true intent and meaning of these presents and of the said parties hereunto that if the said Richard his Executors ^or^ administrators do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said William his Executors administrators or assigns the said full sum of three hundred dollars current money with legal interest for the same from the date hereof on or before the first day of October next without any deduction or abatement whatsoever and shall further indemnify and save harmless the said William from all loss and injury which he may sustain by reason of his assumption aforesaid of the debts of him the said Richard due and owing to the said Lewis Ross, Thomas J. Dail & Brother and Francis J. Henry then and from thenceforth these presents and every matter & thing therein contained shall cease and be utterly null and void; anything therein to the contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding. In testimony whereof the said Richard A.
