123 Sound in body and mind, to have and to hold the said negro man Simon Brannock aged between fifty and sixty years as above bargained and sold unto the said Hagar Brannock her heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, against me the said Griffith my heirs, executors and administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, Shall and will warrant and forever defend. In testimony whereof, I, John Griffith hath hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Tenth day of July eighteen hundred and fifty four Signed sealed and delivered John Griffith (seal) in the presence of Charles Corkran Maryland, Dorchester County, to wit: On the Tenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in and for Said County, the within named John Griffith and acknowledged the within bill of sale to be his act and deed according to the purport, true intent and meaning of the same. Acknowledged before Charles Corkran J. P. Maryland Dorchester County to wit On the 20th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four Came before me a Justice of the Peace in and for Said County negro woman Hagar Brannock within mentioned and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration set forth in this Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth in this Bill of Sale, is true and bona fide as therein set forth according to the true meaning of the act of assembly of 1846 Chapter 271 made and provided Sworn before W.m W. Pattison J. P. 1854 July 20th Received of Hagar Brannock the Sum of one dollar in lieu of a Stamp on this Bill of Sale F. T. Henry Clerk Bill of Sale Delivered to Samuel A Tall the 23.d October 1854 William Andrews Jr Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale √ from was received and recorded on the 1st day of August 1854 to wit: William Andrews Sr Know all men by these presents that I William Andrews Sr of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, for and in Consideration of my great Love and affection, for and borne to my son William Andrew of Dorchester County in the said state I the said William Andrews Sr have granted bargained and Sold, and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said William Andrews my son his Executors administrators and assigns my entire interest and estate right title and Claim, being one undivided half of the following negroes to wit negro woman Patience and her three Children namely Dolly, Josiah & Leah they being the same negroes that were heretofore held jointly and as undivided property by my two Sons Thomas Andrews & William Andrews the former Thomas Andrews having departed this life and I the said William Andrews inheriting his undivided half of said named and described negroes being his heir at law have this day for the Consideration above named and set forth Sold to the Said William Andrews my son, all my right title & Claim to the aforesaid negroes, to have and to hold all and singular the said negroes above named and described and other the premises above bargained and Sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said William Andrews my son his executors administrators and assigns forever; and I the Said William Andrews Sr. for myself, my heirs, Executors and administrators, all and singular the said above named and described negroes, and other the premises unto the said WIlliam Andrews my son his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said William Andrews my Executors and administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever Claiming or to Claim Shall and will warrant and Bill of Sale to William Andrews Jr Oct 5.th 1854 |
